Supported living means exactly what it sounds like. The person lives in their own home, holds their own lease,
chooses who they live with, and receives the support they need to make that work.
Support is set individually. Some people need someone checking in during the day. Others need staff on site
overnight. The level is written into the plan of care and it changes as the person does — it is not fixed by which
house someone lives in.

No more than three people share a home. Each person has a private bedroom.

Our home at 301 East End Avenue is licensed by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation as a
supervised living home for adults with developmental disabilities. It serves up to three adults with staff on site
around the clock.

This is the right setting for someone who needs more structure and supervision than supported living provides, or
who is stepping down from a more restrictive placement.

Support to build a life outside the house. Adult education, volunteering, classes, clubs and associations, learning
the bus routes, and speaking up for yourself.

This happens in the community, not at home, and the goal is that over time the person needs us there less.
